Kota Kinabalu’s de facto Thai restaurant for the past 15 years has been the indomitable Tam Nak Thai at Api-Api Centre. We like Thai food, but the problem is they were located at a place nobody likes going to because of traffic and safety concerns.
We had the pleasure of dining at the new Tam Nak Thai for lunch yesterday, and wanted to let you guys know that they moved, and are no longer at Api-Api centre. Right now they are at snazzy Suria Sabah.
There were only two of us for lunch, so we ordered the Green Curry Chicken, Green Mango Salad, and Fried Sayur Manis in Thai Belacan.
Food-quality wise, they don’t really compare to the better Thai restaurants we’ve been to outside of Sabah, but there are but only three known Thai restaurants in KK, and Tam Nak Thai is the one that has been around for the longest.
We also heard that they are in the process of renovating and setting up the outside area of their new restaurant to run a steamboat concept. The space is a lot larger than their previous one, and I am happy we can now find parking to have Thai food whenever we fancy.
P/S: There is a new Thai restaurant called Som Tum that we want to try. Will keep you guys posted on that.
