WHAT DOES KKMOI MEAN?
KK is an acronym for Kota Kinabalu, the capital city of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. In Sabah, an Ah Moi is used to describe a local young lady. KKMOI is a common label used locally to describe an Ah Moi from KK.
WHO IS KKMOI?
KKMOI is a shy mystery gal. She is also the alter ego of the founder of this website and Editor-at-Large for KKMOI.COM. She’s a 4th-generation KKMOI, avid traveler, music enthusiast and foodie.
KKMOI.COM however, is made up of a band of ghost reviewers. We visit restaurants quietly like Pink Panther to preserve the integrity of our reviews. This is so that restaurant operators won’t act differently toward us and go about their daily business as usual…
WHAT IS KKMOI LIKE?
Like most Ah Mois in KK, she adheres to the Protocols of the Elders of Ah Mois. This includes but are not limited to seeking out the highest quality goods and services at the best value possible! She gets excited about bargains but doesn’t like fake stuff. While shes doesn’t believe in buying lemons that look like oranges, she’ll hoola-hoop if she gets three oranges for the price of one!
You can read our beliefs here.
THE FOOD CRITICS
Sometimes KKMOI gets second and third opinions before reviewing something. The jury include formally-trained culinary professionals, serious foodies and anybody who matters in the decision process. Mostly, it includes gnarly people who are really, really picky.
CAN I INVITE KKMOI TO REVIEW US?
