New York: 2nd Annual Malaysian Restaurant Week
This just in from one of our sources in New York: June 13-19, 2011 is Malaysian Restaurant Week in the New York tri-state area. Yes, you’re not dreaming… this is really going to happen in the Big Apple and beyond.
According to MALAYSIAKITCHENNYC.COM several Malaysian restaurants in New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut, will offer a special $20.11 prix fixe menu for the entire week, while a few other high-profile pan-Asian restaurants will participate with a special Malaysian or Malaysian-inspired two-course menu.
Gone are the days when I used to sensationalize about little triangles of Nasi Lemak and authentic bowls of Pan Mee in the heart of Queens, but the spirit lives on. I’ve traveled a bit, lived in other major cities and I insist the Malaysian food do not come close to what NYC offers. It’s befitting that New York should have a culinary festival dedicated to Malaysian cuisine and I just hope they officiate it with the kompang. They totally need to announce their fabulousness!
When I lived in New York, I never had to ship Malaysian food stuff there because there was no need to do so. NYC is the only city outside of Malaysia and Singapore that doesn’t disappoint when it comes to serving authentic Malaysian cuisine, which is why you totally need to get there. Here’s their promo video:-
Also, I can’t help but wonder if Tan Sri Tony Fernandes (@tonyfernandes) is in New York for this!?!
I believe if everyone kept eating Malaysian food, half of the world’s problems would disappear. So if you’re in the U.S., don’t miss this amazing event.
