KKMOI is now based in the USA
Two years on, I know. I haven’t really been blogging on this site, and that’s because I moved away from KK and ended up in the U.S.A. Also, I will be the first to admit. I got sick of sitting in front of the computer, and typing my thoughts.
For a while too, I have made it a point to keep my identity fairly hidden from the public, because I was essentially reviewing a lot of local businesses. I wanted to maintain honesty that my readers have come to appreciate from my blog without offending business owners, or worse, causing them to go out of business. Now that it’s not a concern anymore, I feel there isn’t a huge need for me to hide my identity anymore.
I started this blog as a way to showcase some of the great eats in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. I still think that is is really important for me to know where the best dining experiences are for when I come home to visit, but I can no longer blog about the food scene in Sabah.
Now that I am no longer living in Sabah, I feel that it would be inauthentic of me to continue to cover local content, as what is local to me is in the U.S. So in the spirit of keeping this going, I’ll continue to blog once a week, and share my experience as a KKMOI in America, until which point it becomes impractical to do so anymore.
We’ll see how it goes. I also feel that being so far away from my family, friends, and from home, I reminisce on simple things like being able to say “ya bah,” or “boleh bah kalau kau.” So I’m giving myself the permission to speak with the Sabahan voice on this blog. It helps me feel connected to home.
